Until prostitution is legalized and sex workers are allowed to unionize and operate in the open without fear of police, we’re going to continue to see headlines like these.
James Bovard summarizes the case for legalizing sex work in this short 1998 article published by the Future of Freedom Foundation. In his conclusion, Bovard writes,
“Vices are not crimes. Despite centuries of attempts to suppress prostitution, the problem continues to flourish — little has changed. Simply because prostitution may, in many people’s opinion, be immoral is no reason for police to waste their time in a futile effort to suppress the oldest profession.”
